National health and safety
This new health sciences building aims to consolidate and integrate the Government’s health sciences functions into a single new facility to create a modern environment that captures efficiencies and promotes recruiting and retaining the top personnel. HED worked in collaboration with Crime Lab Design, lab planning firm Arch'lab Pte Ltd, and Architects61 Pte Ltd, to provide MEP planning and design services for the laboratories of this HSA building.

The Health Sciences Authority oversees critical aspects of national health and safety through specialized agencies including the Center for Drug Evaluation, Institute of Science and Forensic Medicine, National Pharmaceutical Administration, and Product Regulation. Bringing together these functions started with a rigorous program validation and Lean Six Sigma Process that ultimately reduced the building size by 130,000 square feet. The new HSA building will be home to laboratories requiring a high level of security for: illicit drugs, crime scene investigation, DNA, biology, medical examiner, autopsy, morgue, analytical, toxicology, food safety, trace evidence, pharmaceutical and health products testing, firearms and toolmarks, chemical metrology, and questioned documents. The HSA is also responsible for testing and secure storage of the nation’s blood supply for both daily and national emergency preparedness.
